Despite the tremendous growth of commercial channels in Pakistan, Pakistan Television (PTV), which is owned and controlled by the state, is still considered by many people to be one of the most influential television stations in the country. This channel transmits nationwide, reaching even the most inaccessible areas of the country which do not yet have cable television coverage. The advertisement that was shown on PTV has a far wider reach and is likely to be seen in almost all regions of the country. PTV was able to get back on its feet after it started broadcasting the Turkish television series "Ertugrul" with an Urdu translation of the dialogue. As a direct consequence of this phenomena, which caused a remarkable increase in the number of people, PTV was successful in attracting 133–138 million new viewers.
Since the very beginning of its existence, PTV Home has provided viewers with a wide variety of programming. In spite of the fact that the channel's management and ownership have gone through a number of changes over the course of its existence, it is still considered to be one of the most dependable and respected providers of entertainment in Pakistan.
